The Beroepsstandaard schoolleiders VO (English: National Standards for School Leadership in Secondary Education) is a colorful document about the profession of school leadership in Dutch secondary education. It consists of a definition of the profession, five leadership practices and four social qualities. School leaders can use it to work on their own professional development.
Following the Beroepsstandaard, a card set consisting of 140 cards has been developed for school leaders, to apply the content in (daily) practice, for example during a team meeting.
The Dutch Registry of School Leaders in Secondary Education (in Dutch: Schoolleidersregister Voortgezet Onderwijs, abbreviated as SRVO) embodies the social mission of ensuring the quality of school leadership, to achieve good secondary education. They do this by stimulating and highlighting the professional development of school leaders. They also work to give school leadership as a profession a higher profile within society as a whole, in politics and also with school boards, teachers and other individuals and organisations working with school leaders in schools and elsewhere.
